Important Civil War Battles

During the first two years of the Civil War,
    the North lost more battles than it won.

                  Battle of Gettysburg  (Pennsylvania)

        South lost the battle

       Became the turning point of the war

Battle of Vicksburg  (Mississippi)  Gave the Union control of the Mississippi and divided the South

                                    

Sherman's march to the Sea Union General Sherman
burned everything
in his path.

 

Civil War comes to an end after 5 long years.

Results of the Civil War
    1.  No more slavery

     2.  No state could leave the Union.

      3.  over 750,000 soldiers died.
