The Persian Empire

King Cyrus united the Persians and led them to victory over the Medes.

How was Cyrus clever in battle, and religion? p 62  he used camels in battle, redirected a river, he honored the gods of the peoples he conquered

In 536 BC Cyrus allowed the Jews to return to their homeland (Judah)

Darius became king after Cyrus died.

1.  he declared that tax money be used to rebuild the Jerusalem temple

2.  he standardized weights, measurements, and units of money

3.  built the Royal Road

4.  Persians after Darius continually quarreled, plotted, and fought over who would be king.  Look at list on p 64.
