History is usually written with the facts about an issue
as well as the author's
point of view. This point of view can be
a dominant theme. Therefore, subsequent
historians can revise history, with qualified research,
expressing their point of view.
Your task will be to find an issue that interests you.
Research the issue searching for
Original History (Written by historians at the time the
event happened.) and Revisionists
History ( Written by historians years or decades later,
who don't agree with the Original
Historian and revised history with their point of view.
After you have researched the
Original and Revisionists history, then you
can draw your own conclusions from your
research. You can agree or disagree with your research
in your conclusion. Finding
a new twist to what others have written should be in
your conclusion. (This will take
some thought and will receive a higher score.)
Display board: Use the standard science fair size
and set up your board in the fashion
below: In a standing position-- 30" deep, 48" wide,
108" high including the table.
The squares below represent pictures and papers of any
size and shape that you feel
will display your work the best. Creativity also
counts.
Paper: Write a 5 page paper using the following
criteria: THE MATERIAL ON
EACH PAGE WILL VARY IN LENGTH. Try to keep the length
of each section
to one page double spaced.
Page 1. Introduction, thesis
statement, why you are interested in this issue.
Page 2 Original History-
This page's research will line up with what historians
first wrote about the issue.
Page 3 Revisionist History-
This page's research will revise or come up with a
different theory about the issue.
Page 4. Your theory about what
happened. Other possible theories.
Page 5. Your conclusions, final
thoughts, assessments about the entire project.
Notebook: Use a 3 ring binder to contain your paper and
printed material used from
the internet.
History Fair Due Dates. Items are due on or before the listed dates
Students who desire to participate in the History Fair
will be asked to meet the criteria listed below. All projects must
be approved by Mr. Cap or designated teacher. Successful proposals
will strive to Achieve the following objectives.
1. Demonstrate problem solving techniques.
2. Follow a structured step by step formula. (Listed Below)
3. Turn in required items on or before the listed dates. 10% off for each day late
4. Enter school level competition
in February.

October 15 Turn in History Fair Project Form 1 with Hypothesis completed.
November 15 Set up meeting with teacher check research on Original History of your topic.
December 15 Set up meeting with teacher check research on Revisionists History of your topic.
January 15 Set up meeting with teacher check research on Your Theory of your topic.
February Project display.

Ratings criteria for History project.
Each student was given the following paragraph in which to develop their project. Your job, as judge, will be to see if the project was completed in the following manner.
