   Honor's Class Requirements for Mr. Cap's class.

Students who wish to take an honors history class must complete the following requirements:

How do I qualify for an honor's class?  You must have:
88%or above in last year's history class
90%or above for the 1st quarter mid-term grade.

 30%  1.  Write a quarterly one page paper on  a topic, approved by Mr. Cap, from any   lesson found during that quarter. This paper must be typed.  The material must be  approved by Mr. Cap before the student begins.
  Resources:  2 sources other than the textbook.  Any internet sources that you use must have a hard copy of page that is referenced as well as the web site address on your reference sheet.

 30% 2.  This paper / project must be presented orally to the rest of the class. Before you read your essay, present Mr. Cap with a copy including your internet sources and or bibliography page.  Reading  the paper is the minimum requirement.  Students that are creative using video or  power point presentations will potentially receive a higher grade.

 30% 3.  Included with the paper will be a visual aid (poster) to support the material presented.

 10%   4.   You must also type and print a 10 question quiz covering material that you presented to the class, with a separate answer key.  Be sure to leave enough room between questions for answers.

 100%  of Total Honor's Project.

     Honor's Project is 20% of total grade for the Quarter.

Other requirements of Honor Students.
1. Students must also be willing to ask questions of guest speakers if Mr. Cap requests.
2. Read the chapter before the lesson is taught and discussed.
3. Participate in class discussions by initiating pertinent questions and delivering good answers. Clowning around and giving "I dun no know" answers will reduce your honors grade.
4. Honor students will also answer 1-2 essay questions on all major tests.

Mr. Cap's Honor's Class Power Point Requirements

Students who wish to take an honors history class must complete the following Power Point requirements:

How do I qualify for an honor's class? You must have:

88% or above in last year's history class.

90% or above for the 1st quarter mid-term grade.

70% 1. Complete a power point, or web page presentation over a topic covered in the quarter. The material must be approved by Mr. Cap before the student begins. If, for example, you are in Oklahoma History, and you want to do a project on the Great Depression, the majority of your work must include how Oklahoma was affected by the Great Depression.

Minimum of 6 content slides.

Resources: 2 different internet sources. If you use an internet source your last slide must be a works cited page. Be sure to link to the internet source. See Example

10% off if you don't cite your work!!!

30% 2. This project must be presented orally to the rest of the class. The student will bring a disc to class or put the project on the GCS Server 2 server folder.

Students that are creative using power point by using pictures and clip art will potentially receive a higher grade.

Evaluating Your Power Point Honors Project

Content is logically organized for the most part. There was no clear or logical organizational structure, just lots of facts.

3rd Option:    Movie Viewing questions (2) per quarter:

1.  Watch historical on line video and write 1 question per minute about the video. Make sure the questions are worded to ask for a one word or phrase answer.  

2.  Questions must be typed with separate answer key. 

3.  See Mr. Cap for topic and video.

4.  Email Movie file to Mr. Cap  @ acap@gcstulsa.com

5.  Edit the video file and insert the questions at the end of the video. 
     See video example:  Maps and Their Use video 12 min.  Watch Maps and Their Use and
     notice that there are 10 questions at the end of the video.  That's what I want. 

If you can't edit the video ( or find someone to help teach you ) then this Movie / video honors project is not for you.

Print movie viewing questions with an answer key and bring to class or email.
