Geography Honors Requirements

Honors students will answer extra questions on every quiz and exam.
Honors students must complete an honors project each of the four quarters.

Requirements for honors projects:

The student will have a choice:

1. Write a two-page, typed, double-spaced paper with bibliography (at least three sources), and with a visual aid.

2. Prepare a power point presentation

a. At least 7 slides

b. Visual aid (pictures, links, video, etc.)

c. At least 3 sources (with a bibliography)

3. Prepare a web page presentation

a. At least 7 pages (web pages)

b. Visual aid (pictures, video, etc.)

c. At least 3 sources, with bibliography

Grading:

Written presentation (or content on web page or power point)	30%
Oral presentation	30%
Visual aid	20%
Bibliography	10%

Due dates:

Projects will be divided into 3 parts. Each part will be due on a Wednesday.

Part 1: Topic due on the third Wednesday of the quarter.

Part 2: Outline due on the fourth Wednesday of the quarter.

Part 3: Project due on the fifth Wednesday of the quarter.

Topics:

Quarter 1: Choose a river somewhere in the world.

Starting at the headwaters, follow the course of the river. Describe at least five cities that river passes by or through. Describe the history, culture, religion, government of each city.

Quarter 2: Choose an island (or group of islands).

Demonstrate the culture, history, religion, art, etc. of the island.

Quarter 3: Plan a backpacking trip through Europe.

Describe each city you pass through (history, culture, government). Describe at least five cities.

Quarter 4: Plan a dream vacation

Describe the destination. History, culture, religion, tourist attractions, demographics, etc.
